The JAPCC, as a team of multinational experts, is to provide key decision makers effective solutions to Air and Space Power challenges, in order to safeguard NATO and the Nations' interests.
At the head of JAPCC is a 4-Star US Director (also COMUSAFE) based at Ramstein Airbase. The JAPCC is led by a 3-Star DEU Executive Director. On a day-to-day basis, the two 1-Star Assistant Directors run the JAPCC and they are responsible for project assignment and oversight within their areas of responsibility. The important link to ACT is ensured by our Liaison Officer embedded within that HQ. The core of JAPCC is based on 6 branches, each headed by a full Colonel/Group Captain. Within each branch, a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provide the required expertise and knowledge to cover branch-specific disciplines within the Air and Space Power domains. The mix of Airmen, Army and Navy personnel enables the JAPCC to include a truly Joint perspective in its work. Although organised in branches, the JAPCC operates as a ‘matrix organisation’, selecting personnel from the most suitable disciplines to provide appropriate functional expertise to work on specific projects, i.e. for each project, dedicated teams are formed to ensure delivery of the required service, advice or product to customers or project sponsors.
