Length of the programme: 6 semesters Training at the Criminal Administration is the basic programme for military, public administration and Law Enforcement training. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree, graduates possess a Criminal Administration Manager’s Degree in one of the following specialisations: Criminal Investigation, Criminal Intelligence, Economic Crime Investigation or Customs and Finance Investigation.
Graduates carry out investigative work of crimes, which includes: organisation of investigations, planning the gathering of data, detection and taking of evidence as well as required administrative activities. Besides the Police, there is an opportunity for graduates to do their professional work with the Tax and Customs Administration. Their knowledge gained during the programme is related to investigation procedures, although essential forensic studies are also needed for prospective practitioners of Law Enforcement, as their work is related to crimes. Naturally, the knowledge of relevant legislation is also essential. They have to meet medical, Psychological and physical requirements, all of which are necessary to fulfil their professional work within Law Enforcement organisations. The specialities differ from each other in order to prepare students with the proper studies that are relevant to field of criminal investigation.
The knowledge of Criminology dominates within Criminal Investigation specialisation. Here, graduates study the prevention, investigation and providing of evidence for crimes. They need to be familiar with existing Law Enforcement organisations, and possess knowledge about the possibilities of cooperation with other Law Enforcement organisations and social organisations in order to receive assistance during criminal investigations. The officers, in possession of their qualification, may carry out leadership tasks after gaining a few years’ work experience. They can lead the work of intelligence and investigator teams and will be responsible for accomplishing crime prevention and criminal tasks in a particular area. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.
The aim of the training at Criminal Intelligence is to train experts who know criminals’ modus operandi and the relevant legislative background of gathering secret intelligence. They are in possession of special knowledge of Criminology and essentials of criminal investigations, especially in the field of gathering human intelligence. With this they are able to start criminal procedures and can complete them with success. Only professional police personnel are allowed to apply for the programme.
At Economic Crime Investigation specialisation graduates will be experts who are able to recognise economic crimes, identify their legal properties and reveal them independently. Here, it is necessary to mention that graduates must have a wide range of economic, financial and accounting knowledge to prevent and reveal economic crimes as well as that of criminology and law. Their task, as members of law enforcement authorities, is to serve in the cause of justice with the help and cooperation of other Law Enforcement organisations and society in order to prevent and reveal economic crimes. Their professional work may be considered as a special aspect in the field of criminal investigation. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.
At Financial Investigation specialisation participants gain knowledge that comes under the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary, e.g. studies in excise duty, tax and tariff. As Hungary is a member state of the European Union Association Agreement, these experts also fulfil international requirements for the Hungarian Customs Administration. Graduates have proper practical knowledge of Law Enforcement, and are able to take effective steps to prevent and reveal economic crimes which could harm the interest of customs policy of the Republic of Hungary and to prosecute offenders. Graduates are expected to have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, cooperative and communication skills. They are also expected to know foreign languages, self-defence, demand for quality, a sense of responsibility and good physical condition to be able to carry out their duties. Only professional police officers, employed by the National Tax and Customs Administration are allowed to apply for part-time studies.
The aim of this course is to train Criminal Administration Managers who are suitable for working as junior or senior officers with Law Enforcement organisations of the Police or the National Tax and Customs Administration. |
