Length of the programme: 6 semesters

Graduates in Law Enforcement Administration obtain a Law Enforcement Administration Manager’s Degree in one of the following specialisations: Private Security, Corrections, Border Policing, Administrative Policing, Disaster Management, Traffic Policing, Public Order Policing and Customs and Excise Administration. Graduates usually carry out leadership tasks with public order organisations.  They have to meet medical, psychological, and physical requirements, all of which are necessary to fulfil their professional work within Law Enforcement organisations. The specialities differ from each other in order to prepare students with proper studies for the relevant field of their work with organisations of Law Enforcement or the private security sector.

Graduates at the Private Security specialisation can work in different positions with civilian companies for protecting persons and property, organisations for environmental conservation or armed security companies. This qualification does not enable graduates to carry out the tasks of professional police staff.

Graduates at Corrections specialisation carry out special administration, official, guarding and protection tasks as they guard, educate and rehabilitate inmates and help them to reintegrate into society. Only professional officers employed by the Hungarian Prison Service are allowed to apply for these studies.

At Border Policing specialisation we train experts for the Police. By conducting special studies in border policing, students are prepared for carrying out tasks in the field of border control, border surveillance and criminal investigation, border policing administration, alien administration, asylum and public order. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.

Graduates at Administrative Policing specialisation have a wide ranging knowledge of administrative policing. While exercising public authority, they are capable of conducting petty offence, alien administration and other policing procedures independently. They cooperate with other agencies in the prevention and investigation of petty offences. They issue permits for possession of firearms. They supervise the use of pyrotechnics and of explosives for civilian use. They carry out tasks of permission and control in the field of protection of persons and property. Duties also involve liaising with national and foreign citizens and helping them to solve their problems on a daily basis, which makes this profession attractive. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.

In addition to official acts, graduates at Disaster Management specialisation deal with fire prevention, civil protection, protection against and prevention of disasters as well as their management (fire incidents, accidents, environmental pollution, etc.). Due to the nature of their work, they are in contact with the public and almost every Law Enforcement organisation.  Among others, the responsibilities of the organisation include raising public awareness of the predictable dangers of expected natural disasters and conducting response activities. In their work, they cooperate with Law Enforcement organisations not only during emergency prevention and management but also in all issues related to the safety of the population and the preparation of relevant legislation. (New students can now apply to the BA programme in Disaster Management, which has replaced this specialisation.)

The aim of the training at Traffic Policing specialisation is to help students acquire the necessary knowledge of traffic control and checks - how to tackle traffic collisions and how to prevent them. The tasks of graduates include forming the proper moral attitude in traffic, in cooperation with and providing assistance for Law Enforcement and with civilian organisations. In their work, they pay special attention to the detection of those infringing traffic regulations in order to prevent traffic collisions. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.

At Public Order specialisation graduates are trained to organise and carry out leadership tasks in activities related to police support units, maintaining public order and managing special situations. In their work, they cooperate with citizens, governmental, economic and social organisations in order to maintain and improve public order, traffic and public safety. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.

At Customs and Excise Administration specialisation graduates will know special legislation related to tariff, tariff policy, excise, tariff and trade. In their work, they investigate economic crimes and petty offences falling into different tax categories and complete the tasks of customs officers and they exercise public authority related to economic crimes. Part-time studies are only available for professional police staff.
