The Department of Foreign Languages is composed of the Foreign Languages Department, the Main Center of Foreign Languages and the Resources and Learning Center.
The Department of Foreign Languages trains military students, civilian students and civilian and military staff from the Ministry of National Defense for the learning and improvement of foreign languages.
The Foreign Languages Department is composed of 12 members- one associate professor, 5 assistant professors, 4 teaching assistants and 2 junior teaching assistants, covering the following disciplines: English Language, French Language and German Language. The staff trains both civilian and military students- full time courses and students from reduced frequency. The disciplines mentioned are studied during the 4 years of college and are ending with terminal colloquia. Both the students from the Merchant Marine Faculty –sections Navigation and Maritime Transport, Electromechanical and Harbor Exploitations, and the students from the Navy Faculty are studying the English Language (compulsory in the first two years), French and German (optional). During the first two years the students are studying specialized English Language together with general notions of grammar and vocabulary, and starting with the third year there will be studied only the specialized English Language.
