Department of Informatics

The department of Informatics comprehensively covers the area of informatics, information and communication technologies (ICT), and mathematics in research and education. Despite the fact that the Department is new, its staff have long-time experience in education and research in the area of ICT and have reached many significant results so far.

The Department was established on the basis of the former Department of Informatics and Computers, which was in charge of education and research in the area of ICT at the Military Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš. After reorganizational changes in April 2010 the Department also covers the area of mathematics. Nowadays the main responsibilities of the Department are:

  • Education in all three degrees of study
  • Supervising of the studying programs Computer Systems, Networks, and Services and Military Communication and Information Systems
  • Education in special IT courses for the Armed Forces academy, the Headquarters of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence and the public sector
  • Research Research in the area of ICT with respect to application of ICT in the ArmedForces
  • Implementation of current achievements in the area of ICT at the Armed Forces Academy
  • Cooperation with governmental institutions, Ministry of Defence and the Headquarters of the Armed Forces in strategic planning, concepts and projects
