NCO School is an organizational entity of the Croatian Defence Academy responsible for schooling of the NCOs according to the model of sequential-progressive education. It also develops and updates curricula and educational programmes.
The first courses for NCOs were organized at the beginning of the Homeland War in 1991. On 22 October NCO School was transferred from Zagreb to Jastrebarsko, to the barracks “Dr. Ante Starčević”, and that date has been marked as the Day of the NCO School.
The entire NCO cadre is given education in the NCO School for all NCO duties in units, services and other organic entities of the CAF.
Basic mission of the NCO School is to develop curricula at all levels of the NCO education as well as planning, implementation, supervision and analyses of the NCO education.
NCO education is provided at four levels. The first level is education to develop leaders. The second level is the programme of basic NCO education. The third level is the programme of advanced NCO education, and the fourth of higher NCO education. NCOs are also trained through various specialist courses for: staff NCOs, instructors, senior instructors, platoon Sergeant Majors and company Sergeant Majors.
The Command of the NCO School is situated in Požega at barracks “The 123rd brigade of the Croatian army”. Educational divisions are situated in Požega, Split and Zadar, and the section for the fourth level of the NCO education is in Zagreb.
