The department is a main educational and a research department of the Academy in the national, international security and the military art fields.
In terms of education Security and Defence Department participates in cadets’ academic education in accordance with accredited study programs and education of military professionals provided in career and special courses.
Military research of Security and Defence Department is focused on:
national security policy and cooperation with national and foreign military and non-military institutions,
military education improvement according to the military science development and technical advance,
drafting, improvement and testing of Concepts and Doctrines of the Armed forces of the Slovak Republic and NATO (Concept Development & Experimentation).
