The War College is an organzational entity of the CDA, established in 1998 by decision of the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as the highest military school in the Republic of Croatia with aim to train officers for carrying out the highest duties in the domain of national security and defence. The highest ranking officers acquire their education in the college.
The education lasts one academic year (two semesters) and it represents a strategic level of the military-civilian education.
The criteria for attending the War College are very high, bearing in mind that this college is one of the requirements for promotion to the rank of a general.
Emphasis of the education in the War College is placed on 4 fields of study:
- Security,
- Management of Defence,
- National Military Strategy,
- Strategy and the Art of Warfare.
Besides the stated main programme contents, the following subjects are studied as additional contents:
- Methodology of the Scientific-Research and Professional Work,
- Art of Communication and
- Information Systems.
Lecturers in the College are the most distinguished Croatian and foreign scientists, military and civilian officials from Croatia and foreign countries and experts from the field of economy.
About one hundred persons in roles of associates, professors and guest lecturers pass through the College in one academic year. Among the lecturers are Presidents of the Republic, Parliament and Government, Ministers and State Secretaries.
The Teaching Council of the War College consisting of the representatives of the Croatian Defence Academy manages the educational process.
